A beautiful montage of the bride pinning the corsage on her groom.

Blest is the bride, on whom the Sun doth shine.
A Nuptiall Song: Robert Herrick, 1648.

Seven Inroads to the Heart

A pendant about how our hearts are affected.
How do we think of our hearts?
What colour would they be?
How do we imagine the state of our heart and of others?

On many levels this pendent is an embodiment of ideas
that represent the vulnerability and malleability of the heart,
the seen and unseen and the influence of worldly experiences.

The use of coloured perspex is juxtaposed against the nickel,
highlighting the soft and the harsh. The colours embody
the piece with connotations of emotion.

Bloodlines

A series of rings handmade in late 2011.
This ring set  is an embodiment of the cultures that are a part of my life.
My bloodlines, Scottish which is brass, Burmese which is copper and
Indian which is nickel silver. Symbolically the patterns that connect are
floral in nature because my name means – flower from a fruit tree.
The ring is purposefully kept in 3 parts to give the wearer the ability to
wear the rings as they wish.

In her inaugural solo exhibit at DESYPHER Architecture, Planning & Urban Design in Melbourne, Zahrah explores the notions of spirituality in the everyday. How one finds the balance of seeking The Divine in our world filled with distractions. Her works poses questions and seeks a dialogue with the audience about attainment of serenity, the fleetingness of existence and the relationship of material goods connected to the depth of ones relationship with the spiritual realm.

Zahrah experiments with Collage, Mixed Media, Photography and 2D/3D pieces.

she writes as a prelude to the exhibit…

“Find The Divine in the everyday.
Awaken your thoughts through visual meanderings.
Feel the tactile sense of the artworks.

Explore the fine balance between attaining the spiritual whilst navigating and living in the material realm.
Pause, take a breath…
& reflect. ”
